Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress, best recognized for her performances in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out high school, and relocating to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. She landed her debut role as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001 despite struggling with finances. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. She was the main role for two seasons, and was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace would like to be on film more frequently, having been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The following year, she starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. In 2008, she played the same role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. In 2013, she was in the sixth season of Californication. She plays Faith as a female groupie as well as a model for stars. Hank Moody is played by David Duchovny. She's a Gyllenhaal, the child of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is younger in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in her father's movies and she co-starred alongside her brother in Donnie Darko the popular cult movie. Then she appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a film) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Awards. She starred in several commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However the role she played in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). Nominated to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Crazy Heart, (2009). Then she was in comedies and dramas, including Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 Other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent of The Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared as a vocalist in Frank 2014 and as a singer as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the title role. In 2021, Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directed debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she received The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
