Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. She was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five and enrolled in at the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor at age six. Over the course of several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing, dancing and acting. When she was ten, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. The casting process began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma via her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's screen debut came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. It set records for its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. The film was praised by critics who praised the film and particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma later won five awards for her performance in the movie.
